Abstract

Intended use Indonesian language labeling on food imports is that consumers
will be easier to get the right information, clear and well on the quantity and quality
of imported products and can then make a choice before buying or consuming
imported products. Circulation of food imports that are not labeled Indonesian who
is still circulating in the community, especially in Purwokerto, certainly very
unfortunate because not all the people understand foreign languages. In accordance
with the mandate of Article 97 paragraph (3) of Law Number 18 of 2012 about Food,
Article 15 of the Government Regulation of the Republic Indonesia Number 69 Year
1999 about Food Labeling and Advertisement, the label must be translated into
Indonesian.
The methode which used in this research was juridical normative approach, the
research which focusing to assessing the application of a norm in law posistif that
done by means of secondary data. The material law analyzed with qualitative
normative. The locations of this research in Pusat Informasi Ilmiah (PII) the faculty
of law Jenderal Soedirman University and Balai Besar Pengawas Obat dan Makanan
Semarang.
Based on the reserch result it can be describe that the legal protection to
consumer food products which does not labeled in Indonesian language in Banyumas
district normatively have already been fulfilled as mandated in Law No. 8 of 1999
about consumer protection which related with the right of consumers in article 4
abjad a, c, and h. However int the fact, the right of consumer unaccomplished
because some businessman not mention Indonesian label in the food imports product.
