Abstract

Indonesia is one country with a wealth of diverse cultures. Indonesia, which
claimed many cultures of other countries. One form of culture that Indonesia is a
Traditional Dance. Traditional dance in the Copyright is part of the folklore.
Traditional folklore is unknown creature creator. Traditional dance is partly oral
folklore, which is a mixture of verbal and non verbal elements, which is also the duty
of the state to provide protection. Therefore, this study titled, Copyright Law on the
Protection of Traditional Dance.
This research was conducted by using a normative juridical research method,
the approach of the aspects of the law and the rules of existing law and applicable in
the community, to determine whether the law is used in accordance with applicable
law. The study was conducted at the Center for Scientific Information Faculty of Law
of General Sudirman, and Provincial Library D.I Yogyakarta.
The results showed that the Legal Protection of Copyright on traditional dance,
visible with the regulation of folklore in Article 10 of the Copyright Act 19 of 2002
and the protection can be done with a defensive legal protection, namely the
inventory and documentation with a database and also protection of the law
repressive and preventive.
